Arrr, ye scurvy dogs! The Utah Utes be shoutin' from the rooftops that their mighty captain, Cam Rising, be unfit to sail this season. Aye, his knee be in dire need of mendin' after that treacherous clash at the Rose Bowl last year!

The No. 14 Utah Utes, fresh off a victory against the No. 18 USC Trojans, received some unfortunate injury news from head coach Kyle Whittingham. Starting quarterback Cam Rising, who had been dealing with a knee injury, will be out for the rest of the season. In addition, tight end Brant Kuithe will also miss the remainder of the year due to a torn ACL from last season. Rising had suffered a severe knee injury at the Rose Bowl last season, but the extent of it was not initially clear to the public. However, Rising recently revealed the extent of his injury during a radio appearance, stating that it has been a grueling recovery process. Despite being ahead of schedule, Whittingham has decided to shut him down for the season. It is uncertain whether Rising, who still has a year of eligibility, will return for another season of college football. In Rising's absence, the Utes will turn to Bryson Barnes, who performed well against USC, throwing for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Barnes will be supported by Nate Johnson, who has also seen playing time this season. With a 6-1 record, the Utes still have tough competition ahead, including games against No. 9 Oregon and No. 5 Washington. Rising had an impressive performance last season, throwing for over 3,000 yards with 26 touchdowns.
