Arr, be ye reckonin' that the future o' gaming on these fancy contraptions called laptops be settlin' fer these integrated graphics?

Intel's upcoming Meteor Lake CPUs for laptops are set to be released in December. In a recent demonstration, Intel showcased the integrated graphics of one of these Core Ultra processors running the game Dying Light 2 with the frame rate boosting XeSS technology enabled. The demo showed that Dying Light 2 was significantly faster with XeSS, running at 1.7x the speed without it. This is the first time Intel has demonstrated XeSS on an Xe integrated GPU, indicating their confidence in promoting this combination as a viable solution for laptop gaming.
The use of integrated graphics in gaming laptops could potentially eliminate the need for a separate discrete graphics card, resulting in lower prices and improved battery life. However, XeSS is required to boost the frame rate, and it only works with the newest Intel GPUs. Fortunately, over 80 games now support XeSS, and Intel is continuously making progress with driver updates. This development is a step towards integrated graphics becoming a realistic option for more demanding gaming on laptops.
Intel's Battlemage GPUs also show promise for the future, but the company needs to avoid major missteps like the compatibility issues with the game Starfield and the current Arc graphics driver. Overall, Intel is making positive strides in the portable gaming market with XeSS and ongoing driver improvements.
