Avast, me hearties! Be ye ready to make the AI walk the plank? Yonder be two apps that can now toss the scurvy landlubber from yer desktop. Set sail for privacy, mateys!

DoNotSpy11, a free anti-tracking tool for Windows 11 and 10, has received an update that allows it to deal with Copilot. The new version of DoNotSpy11 (v1.2.0.0) now supports Windows 11 23H2, the latest annual update. The 23H2 update introduces Copilot, an AI that appears as a default icon in the taskbar. DoNotSpy11 now allows users to disable the Copilot button or entirely disable Copilot. The tool also offers other privacy options such as disabling Windows 11 telemetry, lock screen notifications, widgets, and ads in the UI.
O&O ShutUp10, another similar tool that supports Windows 11 and 10, also tackles privacy issues and disables Copilot. The recent update of O&O ShutUp10 removes the taskbar button as well. Both DoNotSpy11 and O&O ShutUp10 are free to download.
DoNotSpy11 and O&O ShutUp10 have been long-standing options for maintaining privacy on Windows. The earlier version of DoNotSpy10 for Windows 10 allegedly carried an advert-pushing plugin, but the current version, DoNotSpy11, is ad-free. O&O ShutUp10 has the advantage of not requiring installation and can be run directly from the download folder.
Disabling Copilot might be appealing to users who do not want the AI on their desktop, especially during its initial stages. While some users are excited about Copilot's potential, cautious users may prefer to avoid it due to its limited capabilities in interacting with Windows 11 settings.
It is important to note that using third-party software like DoNotSpy11 or O&O ShutUp10 carries some risk, as with any other software for Windows 11.
