Arrr, me hearties! This here Wordle be a treacherous beast, the likes of which we've scarce seen in 2023. Heed me words and steer clear of these blunders, lest ye be sunk to Davy Jones' locker!
Today's Wordle is proving to be one of the toughest challenges of 2023, frustrating even the most dedicated players and causing many a curse word to be uttered. It nearly cost me my long-running streak, but I have no one to blame but myself for a couple of key mistakes I made. The word for game #878 is SASSY, and the problem lies in its triple S. Only 20 out of the 2,309 original Wordle answers have a triple letter, making it a rare occurrence. Additionally, SASSY has multiple alternative answers, such as SAUCY, SANDY, SAPPY, and more.
The first mistake I made was not coming up with a comprehensive list of possible answers. After my second guess, SALAD, I was left with six potential answers, but I only thought of three myself and missed SAUCY, SASSY, and SAVOY. This almost cost me the game.
My second mistake was not narrowing down the remaining options on subsequent guesses. Instead of playing "throwaway words" that would eliminate certain possibilities, I continued to guess without a strategic approach. This left me with a 50/50 chance between SASSY and SAUCY on my final guess.
Fortunately, I guessed SASSY and maintained my streak, but it could have easily gone the other way. I learned my lesson and will be more cautious in future games. Wordle can be difficult, but I made it even harder for myself this time.
