2023-11-28

Arr, ye scurvy dogs o' YouTube be tamperin' with thar dark arts o' artificial intelligence. They be tryin' t' make it sum up a video or all th' blabberin' in th' comments. Blimey, what be next? Talkin' parrots drivin' ships?

YouTube is rolling out two new AI features for its Premium subscribers on the mobile app. The first feature is a conversational AI that can answer questions about a video and recommend other content. Users can tap the Ask button below the channel name to open a chat interface and interact with the AI. The AI can summarize the video or suggest related content. While the feature works well, it is still in the experimental stage, and users can provide feedback on any mistakes or inaccuracies.

The second AI feature is a comment summarizer that breaks down large comment sections into individual topics. This feature is limited to videos in English and can be found in the comments section of a video. Users can open the Topics tab to see all the ongoing discussions. The summarizer seems to be rolled out randomly and will only be available until December 5.

The third experimental feature is Playables, a collection of 30 games that can be played directly on YouTube's homepage. These games do not require any downloads and include puzzles and easy-to-pick-up titles like solitaire and Angry Birds. The Playables feature is available on both mobile and desktop and will be accessible until March 28, 2024.

The conversational AI will be accessible until December 15, and the comment summarizer will be available until December 5. There is no official launch date announced for these features, but users can provide feedback to YouTube.
