In a jolly good beginning fer the fortnight weather meetin' named COP28, me hearties aboard agreed on the particulars o' a chest o' gold to make amends to them developin' lands fer the plunderin' caused by the heatin' o' the seas. This here loss an' damage chest, which was first set up at last year's COP27 meetin' in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, be now properly set sailin', an' a few lands have already come to terms on payin' their fair share. In a jolly good start to the swashbuckling climate summit known as COP28, the fine delegates have found themselves in agreement regarding a fund to compensate those poor developing countries for the plundering effects of warming temperatures.This loss and damage fund, me hearties, was first devised at last year's COP27 summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, and now, by Davy Jones' locker, it has been "operationalized"! Arrr! Some countries have even agreed to start coughing up their doubloons into this fine treasure chest. A draft agreement was passed 'round earlier in November, but there be some squabbles over the finer details, if you catch my drift.
Now, my friends, let me spin you a tale about this here fund. Ye see, when the warming temperatures bring forth hurricanes and floods, the poor souls in those developing countries are left stranded like landlubbers on a sinking ship.
