Arrr! 'Tis true! Schools all 'cross the land be turnin' to dark sorcery, known as artificial intelligence, to find those cursed cannons, better protectin' their crew 'gainst the threat o' a school shootin'! Aye, a jolly good plan, me hearties!

School districts across the country are searching for new ways to ensure the safety of their students and staff. In Iberville Parish, Louisiana, the school district has teamed up with a software company to implement artificial intelligence technology that can detect guns before any harm is done. The district's superintendent, Louis Voiron, explains that with 800 cameras in the district, it is impossible for a few individuals to monitor all of them at once. The goal is to be proactive and prevent shootings from happening. The system is set to be operational by January and the district's priority is to protect students and staff.

The ZeroEyes software works by analyzing the video footage from the cameras and alerting the company's analytical team if a possible gun is detected. This team, made up of former military and law enforcement personnel, assesses the situation and immediately alerts school staff and the police, providing them with information about the type of gun and its location. The software also has a mechanism to handle false alarms, ensuring that only genuine threats are acted upon.

ZeroEyes is currently being utilized in over 100 schools across 35 states and does not store biometric data. In New Jersey, the Ocean City School District has also implemented the software, which has detected a water gun in the past. The Interim Superintendent, Scott McCartney, emphasizes that the software helps to enhance existing security measures and can potentially save lives by allowing for a faster response time.

The use of gun detection AI technology is gaining interest among other school districts in New Jersey and is considered an effective tool in preventing mass shootings. By taking a proactive approach and investing in advanced technologies, school districts hope to create a safer environment for their students and staff.
