Avast ye! On Monday, a fearsome Russian cannonball befallen Kyiv, Ukraine, layin' waste to homes and darkened the city 'pon its nightly curfew. Arr!

A Russian missile attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, destroyed several homes and left over 100 households without electricity. The attack occurred during the city's nightly curfew and resulted in loud explosions and air raid sirens. Ukraine's military claimed that all eight ballistic missiles were intercepted by their air defenses, but falling debris still caused damage on the ground. One person was injured, and three others suffered severe shock. Journalists witnessed the destruction in the Bortnychi district, where homes were ripped apart and buildings had holes in their roofs and walls. Residents like Victor Demchenko, who owned a destroyed house, were shocked by the extent of the damage. Another resident, Nadia Matvienko, narrowly escaped harm when her home was damaged in the attack. The Ministry of Energy reported that the attack caused power outages for around 120 households in the city.

This attack follows a warning that Russia intends to increase its attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure as winter approaches. The UK Defense Ministry predicted a more concerted campaign aimed at degrading Ukraine's energy infrastructure, as Russia had recently deployed its heavy bomber fleet for the first time since September. The Ukrainian air force also reported intercepting 18 Russian drones in the Mykolaiv region.

Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was in Argentina for the swearing-in of the country's new president, Javier Milei. Zelenskyy met with several leaders during the inauguration ceremony, including Hungarian leader Viktor Orban, who is seen as a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelenskyy's trip to Latin America aimed to garner support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia.

Zelenskyy was scheduled to travel to Washington to meet with President Joe Biden and other U.S. officials to discuss Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression. Biden has requested a $110 billion package of funding for Ukraine and Israel, but the request is currently entangled in debates over U.S. immigration policy and border security.
