Avast, mateys! Giants' Tommy DeVito be offered coveted seats at Madison Square Garden by Cap'n Rick Pitino of St. John's.

Two-time national championship-winning coach Rick Pitino is making efforts to bring attention to the basketball program at St. John's University. In a humorous tone, Pitino invited NFL quarterback Tommy DeVito to sit courtside at an upcoming Red Storm basketball game at Madison Square Garden. DeVito, who plays for the New York Giants, has gained attention as a rookie sensation leading the team to three consecutive wins. Pitino, hoping for some Italian luck, extended the invitation to DeVito, who has a short commute from East Rutherford to Manhattan. Pitino tweeted, "Hey @tommydevito007 - we need some Italian luck in the Garden this Saturday!! Courtside seats are yours." Meanwhile, DeVito's agent, Sean Stellato, disputed the nickname "Slimy" given to him by former Giants quarterback Peyton Manning during a broadcast. Stellato called into a radio show to clarify that he doesn't understand where the nickname comes from. Pitino, in his first year with St. John's, has coached various basketball teams, including the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics. He has won national championships at Kentucky and Louisville. The Giants will be playing against the New Orleans Saints this weekend. Pitino's invitation to DeVito is part of his efforts to rejuvenate the St. John's basketball program and bring attention to the team.
