Arrr, mateys! Avast ye! Chip Kelly be takin' the helm to coach UCLA's final game amongst the Pac-12 on a fine Saturday night. An' the coach be mournin' the sad decline of this here conference, aye.
The Pac-12 conference is on the brink of collapse, with ten out of twelve teams defecting to other conferences next year. This will leave only Washington State and Oregon State as the remaining teams. UCLA will play its final game as a member of the Pac-12 this Saturday against Boise State in the LA Bowl, as they are set to join the Big Ten next year. Head coach Chip Kelly expressed his disappointment with the situation, stating that it is sad and that the administrators and coaches couldn't figure out how to keep the conference together. Kelly believes that the Pac-12 should have remained intact, as it has been a staple since 1915. He also suggested a solution to keep rivalries alive by creating a 64-team conference within the Power Five and another within the Group of Five, allowing teams to play each other and maintain their rivalries. UCLA will be joined by USC, Washington, and Oregon in the Big Ten, while Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah will move to the Big 12, and Cal and Stanford will join the ACC. Many rivalries will come to an end due to this massive realignment.
