Arrr! The scurvy New York Jets be walkin' the plank fer a record 13 straight seasons, after losin' to Miami on Sunday. Let's cast our minds back to the time the Jets last tasted the sweet nectar o' the postseason, mateys!

The New York Jets have been officially eliminated from playoff contention, marking their 13th consecutive season without a playoff appearance. This makes them the team with the longest active playoff drought in the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB. While not much has changed for the Jets since the 2010-2011 season, the rest of the world has certainly moved on.

Looking back at the last time the Jets made the playoffs, it was in Rex Ryan's second year as head coach. The team had just come off their first appearance in the AFC Championship since 1998. They had a successful season with a 9-7 record and made it to the playoffs, but were eventually knocked out by the Indianapolis Colts. The following season, they improved to 11-5 and finished second in their division.

In the playoffs, they faced off against the Colts once again in the wild-card round and managed to secure a narrow victory. They then went on to defeat the New England Patriots in the divisional round, with Mark Sanchez outdueling Tom Brady. However, their run ended in the AFC Championship game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who eventually lost to the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl.

During this time, Bruno Mars' song "Grenade" was at the top of the charts, and Natalie Portman starred in the romantic comedy "No Strings Attached." The median household income in the U.S. was $50,054, and gas prices were just over $3 a gallon. Whole milk cost $3.57 per gallon, and a dozen eggs averaged at $1.80.

Barack Obama was serving his first term as president and announced his plans to run for reelection in April 2011. Despite all these changes, the Jets have yet to return to the playoffs.
