Microsoft has resolved a Windows 11 bug that was causing disruptions for students around the world. The issue was related to patches KB5032288 and KB5033375, with the latter being the cumulative update for December in Windows 11. Fortunately, Microsoft quickly provided a solution for the problem.
The company announced the fix on its release health status dashboard, stating that it would use Known Issue Rollback (KIR) to resolve the issue. However, it may take up to 24 hours for the resolution to automatically propagate to consumer devices and non-managed business devices. Restarting the Windows device might help speed up the application of the fix.
The bug predominantly affected university, business, and public Wi-Fi networks, although it could potentially impact home networks as well. Despite this, affected users don't need to take any action to resolve the Wi-Fi connectivity problems, as the Known Issue Rollback will remove the problematic part of the update while keeping the rest intact for future deployment.
Although the fix may take some time to reach everyone, Microsoft assured that all affected users should have the solution within the next five hours or so. For users who are impatient, a reboot can be attempted to prompt the fix.
Overall, it's commendable that Microsoft acted swiftly to address the issue and provide a resolution for the affected students. This bug was causing significant disruption, particularly in educational and business environments.
