Arrr, the treacherous tale of the RTX 4090 be a burnin' inferno! Yet, this time, the blame falls not on Nvidia's scurvy shoulders. Avast! The nightmare of cables meltin' be relentless, me hearties!
In a humorous 17th-century pirate language, there be yet another twist in the Nvidia RTX 4090 cable meltin' nightmare. CableMod, a third party that provided a solution with its 90-degree angled 16-pin connector, has now issued a recall for certain versions of its 12VHPWR angled adapters. These adapters, which fit at a right angle to avoid Nvidia's cable problems, have a potential risk of the male connector becomin' loose, overheat, and melt into the GPU. Yarrr! This be a serious matter, as the connectors can melt just like the original RTX 4090 problem. CableMod strongly advises users to stop using any v1.0 or v1.1 adapter immediately and remove it from their PCs. They be warned to do so when the system be turned off and has been for a while, to allow the adapter to cool down before handlin'. Arr!
Buyers be not too happy, as ye might imagine. Those who purchased the v1.0 adapter got the v1.1 model for free but had to pay for the shippin' of the latter. Some be feelin' twice out of pocket, once for the original purchase and secondly for the 'expensive' shippin' of the revised adapter. Ahoy, someone on Reddit be pointin' this out!
There have been reports of issues with these CableMod adapters for a few months now, and the v1.1 release was supposed to fix any problems with the initial adapter. But, alas, it did not. Avast!
So, if ye be a user of these CableMod adapters, heed the recall notice and take immediate action. Savvy?
