Avast, me hearties! Michael Pittman be claimin' he be havin' no memory o' the fearsome blow from Damontae Kazee what gave him a blasted concussion. Kazee be walkin' the plank, banned for the rest o' the season, ye scallywags!
After delivering yet another brutal hit on an unsuspecting receiver, Damontae Kazee has been slapped with a suspension for the remainder of the regular season. The incident occurred during a game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Indianapolis Colts on December 16th. On a second down and 8 play, Gardner Minshew, the Colts' quarterback, was aiming for Michael Pittman on the left side of the field. Unfortunately for Pittman, the pass was out of his reach, so he dove to try and make the catch. However, before he could touch the ground, Kazee, a defensive back for the Steelers, delivered a massive hit that sent Pittman sprawling. Pittman remained on the turf for several minutes before finally walking off on his own, but the blow had left him with a concussion. Although he has since cleared the required medical protocol, Pittman's availability for the upcoming game is uncertain due to a shoulder injury. When asked about the hit, Pittman admitted that he has no recollection of the moment. In fact, he didn't even realize the severity of the hit until he saw his wife and daughter crying. Despite this, Pittman doesn't believe Kazee had any ill intentions. He believes Kazee was "headhunting," but doesn't think the intention was to cause a life-altering injury. Pittman sympathizes with Kazee, acknowledging that no player wants to lose games or money due to fines, as they too have families to support. In fact, Kazee has already accumulated several fines throughout the season for similar incidents, including one against the Cincinnati Bengals' Irv Smith earlier in the month. This latest suspension serves as a stern warning to Kazee and emphasizes the importance of player safety in the NFL.
