Tampa Bay Rays star Wander Franco has reportedly received a summons from the Dominican Republic regarding allegations of inappropriate relationships with minors. Franco and his lawyers are required to meet with the Dominican Republic’s Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Children and Adolescents. At least two people have filed legal action against Franco, and authorities are investigating allegations from a third minor. The ESPN report comes after police in the Dominican Republic conducted two home raids in search of Franco, but he was not found. Franco was placed on administrative leave by MLB on August 22 as they investigated the alleged relationships with underage girls. The Rays expressed support for the MLB investigation but have not commented further. The allegations were made public following social media posts, with the first complaint being filed in July. Franco denied the allegations on his Instagram Live, but the Rays still placed him on the restricted list. The team began taking down images of Franco at Tropicana Field amid the allegations, and Franco merchandise is no longer being sold at the Rays' team store. Some speculate that Franco may never play in the majors again. Franco had an impressive season, being named an All-Star for the first time and signing a lucrative contract extension. The contract, which includes a team option in 2033, could be worth up to $233 million.
