As per a fresh Apple patent, methinks the Vision Pro's spectacle be not only for mere EyeSight – it might grant thee visions of much grandeur, me hearties! Arrr!
The Apple Vision Pro headset is rumored to be launching in the coming weeks, and a recent Apple patent may have revealed some new details about its external display. The patent suggests that the display won't just show the wearer's eyes, but will also be able to display a wider range of images.Currently, the Vision Pro's external screen only shows the wearer's eyes in mixed reality or a colorful pattern in virtual reality. However, using the display to show icons or scenes would be useful. For example, a "do not disturb" sign could alert others that the wearer is in an important virtual meeting, while displaying a virtual scene would give bystanders an idea of what the wearer is looking at.
The patent also reveals alternatives to the realistic EyeSight feature, such as showing the eyes as digital dots and lines in the style of an expressive robot. Other examples in the patent include displaying a clock or weather conditions, which may not be helpful while wearing the headset but useful when the headset is charging on a desk.
It's important to note that these features may or may not make it to the final product, and their availability at launch is uncertain. However, if the headset is indeed close to launching, we can expect our questions to be answered soon.
