Oklahoma State University has been granted another season with quarterback Alan Bowman, as the NCAA approved his waiver request for a seventh year of eligibility. Bowman, who will be 24 before the season begins, took to social media to announce the news and express his gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and fans for making the 2023 season the most fun he's ever had playing football. He also revealed that he will be returning in 2024 to make a championship run, as he believes there is unfinished business in Stillwater.Bowman's collegiate career began at Texas Tech, where he played for three seasons before transferring to Michigan for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He then made another transfer to Oklahoma State in January 2023. The senior associate athletics director for compliance at Oklahoma State, Ben Dyson, explained that Bowman met the criteria for an extension of his eligibility due to a season-ending injury in 2019 and redshirting at the University of Michigan. The Texas Tech training staff provided the necessary documentation to expedite the waiver request process.
During the 2023 season, Bowman led the Cowboys to a 10-4 record and a spot in the Big 12 title game. Although they suffered a loss to the Texas Longhorns, Bowman displayed an impressive performance, throwing for 250 yards and three touchdowns. He ended the season with a strong showing in the Texas Bowl, where he threw for 402 yards and two touchdowns in a victory over Texas A&M.
Overall, Oklahoma State is thrilled to have Bowman returning for another season, and fans can expect more exciting moments on the football field.
