2024-01-07

Arr, word be havin' it that the scurvy New York Jets be seekin' t' trade young Zach Wilson come the offseason, as it be lookin' like his time with the crew be comin' to an end. The lad were drafted No. 2 in the year o' 2021, but alas, his fate be sealed.

In the language of a 17th-century pirate, we have some interesting news about the New York Jets' quarterback, Zach Wilson. It seems that the Jets are ready to part ways with him, making him walk the plank, so to speak. Wilson was brought in as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 draft, but he failed to live up to the team's expectations. Arr, it be a disappointment, matey.

The Jets gave Wilson a chance to prove himself when Aaron Rodgers went down with a torn Achilles early in the 2023 season. He started in 12 games and managed to win just five of them. Unfortunately for Wilson, that was not enough to convince the team that he is their long-term future at the quarterback position. Arr, it be a rough sea for poor Zach.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport shared on "NFL Gameday" that the Jets plan to trade Wilson in the offseason rather than cut him loose. Every quarterback gets traded, says Rapoport, so it's not surprising. The Athletic also reported that the Jets told Wilson they were planning on trading him when they benched him. It seems they've made up their minds about the young lad.

Wilson had a standout collegiate career at BYU, which led to his high draft position. But in his time with the Jets, he started 33 of the 34 games he played, throwing for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions. He had a less-than-impressive record of 12-21 in those 33 starts. Arr, it be a tough pill to swallow for the Jets faithful.

So, it looks like Wilson will be sailing to another team in the offseason, leaving the Jets to search for a new captain to guide their ship. We'll have to wait and see how it all plays out, but for now, it's clear that Wilson's time in New York be coming to an end. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
