Arrr! Be there yet another shortage o' stock on the horizon? Methinks it be true, especially considerin' the scuttlebutt we've caught wind o'!
Nvidia has recently announced its new RTX Super graphics card refreshes at CES 2024, but it seems that getting your hands on one might not be so easy. According to rumors, Nvidia's production levels for these GPUs may be lower than expected. Moore's Law is Dead, a YouTube leaker who accurately predicted the pricing of these refreshes, has raised concerns about the supply levels. Sources suggest that the production runs will only be a third of what is typically expected, making it difficult to find stock when the graphics cards go on sale. One source, a global distributor, claims that Nvidia will allocate as many graphics cards for all three models as they would for a single GPU launch. Another source, who works at a major retailer, agrees that the launch will be "light" and that the RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super will be scarce. A third source, who works at Nvidia, believes that the RTX 4070 Super will have better availability, but the other models may not be widely available until the existing RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 sell through.
The expectation is that the stock for these graphics cards will sell out quickly, and even the RTX 4070 Super will only have decent availability. Furthermore, there may be sluggish resupply of these graphics cards after the initial launch. It is speculated that we may have to wait until March 2024 for better supply.
On the AMD front, the recently revealed Radeon RX 7600 XT is expected to have robust stock levels at launch. Overall, it seems that securing one of these RTX Super refreshes may be a challenge, at least for the first couple of months after launch.
