Arr, ye scurvy scallywags! Be ye listenin'? The r1 be a vessel holdin' a LAM model, which grants ye the power to summon digital 'rabbit assistants' to do yer biddin'. No more workin' like a landlubber, I tell ye! Hoist the sails and let these critters do yer tasks, mateys!

During CES 2024, startup Rabbit Inc. unveiled its new mobile device called the Rabbit r1, which aims to revolutionize smartphone user interfaces (UIs) with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). The CEO of Rabbit Inc., Jesse Lyu, expressed his dissatisfaction with the current smartphone interfaces, stating that there are too many apps that do not interact with each other, causing users to jump from app to app for simple tasks. The Rabbit r1 is designed to automate these processes and provide a seamless experience.

The device features a Large Action Model (LAM), an AI model that learns how users interact with apps and can replicate the same behavior. This technology forms the basis of the company's proprietary operating system, rabbit OS. With rabbit OS, users can create automated scripts called 'rabbits' to perform tasks through voice commands. Unlike other personal assistants like Google Assistant, all tasks on the Rabbit r1 are done through a single interface, eliminating the need to open multiple apps.

In terms of hardware, the Rabbit r1 is small, about the size of a stack of Post-it notes, and weighs approximately 115g. It has a 2.88-inch touchscreen, a push-to-talk button, and a scroll wheel for navigation. Powered by a 2.3GHz MediaTek Helio P35 processor and an 'all-day' battery, the device also features support for cellular connectivity and an AI-powered rotating camera.

The Rabbit r1 is currently available for pre-order in Luminous Orange for $200, with no additional monthly subscription required. It can interact with various apps, including music, rideshare, and shopping apps. US orders will ship in late March, while international orders will be shipped later in the year.

It remains to be seen how the Rabbit r1 will compete with smartphones from tech giants. However, it offers a streamlined smartphone experience with a strong focus on AI. Whether it will be seen as a worthy competitor or merely a toy is yet to be determined.
