Casey Thompson, a college football player who has had a nomadic career, recently committed to the Oklahoma Sooners. Thompson, whose father was a former Oklahoma quarterback, made the announcement on X. He expressed his excitement about returning home and being with his family, as well as the opportunity to play for a great program. Thompson also thanked God for this blessing.Thompson's college journey has taken him to four different locations. He started at Texas in 2018 as a redshirt behind Sam Ehlinger. Although he didn't play in any games that year, he appeared in eight games in the following seasons. When head coach Tom Herman was fired, Thompson played under Steve Sarkisian in 2021 and put up impressive stats. However, after a disappointing 5-7 season, Thompson transferred to Nebraska.
In 2023, Thompson joined Florida Atlantic as a graduate student, reuniting with Tom Herman. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to an ACL injury, but he was granted one more season through a medical hardship waiver. Now, Thompson is set to join the Oklahoma Sooners as a backup to Jackson Arnold in the upcoming season.
