Avast ye scurvy dogs! Cam Ward be changin' his mind and abandonin' his fancy plans to set sail fer the NFL Draft. Instead, he be joinin' the crew of Miami in 2024, havin' left Washington State behind. Aye, the winds be changin'!
Former Washington State star quarterback, Cam Ward, has announced that he will play one more season in college after initially declaring for the NFL Draft. Ward revealed that he has committed to the University of Miami, posting a photo of himself in a Hurricanes uniform. In an interview with The Athletic, Ward expressed his confidence in Miami's chances of reaching the College Football Playoff (CFP) next year, noting the talent on offense and defense, as well as the additions from the transfer portal and recruiting class. This decision comes after Ward's New Year's Day announcement in which he declared for the NFL Draft. However, it seems that Miami was able to persuade him to stay in college for another season. With 13,876 passing yards and 119 touchdowns in his four college seasons, Ward is set to be the starting quarterback for Miami, especially after Tyler Van Dyke transferred to Wisconsin.
Miami has also secured the services of transfer quarterback Reese Poffenbarger, who led Albany to the FCS playoffs with impressive passing statistics. Ward himself had a successful season, throwing for 3,736 yards and 25 touchdowns. Despite a disappointing 5-7 record for the Cougars, they started the year strong with a 4-0 record and an upset win over Oregon State.
Overall, Ward's decision to continue his college career in Miami provides a boost to the Hurricanes' football program. With his talent and the team's potential, Miami may have a shot at reaching the coveted CFP.
