Arr! Jason Avant, the former matey of NFL, be chattin' with Fox News Digital 'bout them Kansas City Chiefs' playoff fortunes and whether they be havin' a shot at the Super Bowl, aye!
The Kansas City Chiefs have had to rely on grinding out victories this season, as their offense is not as prolific as it has been in the past. Despite this, the team managed to win 11 games, secure a division championship, and emerge victorious in a playoff game against the Miami Dolphins. Former Chiefs player Jason Avant believes that the team's ability to win these gritty games is due to quarterback Patrick Mahomes. However, Avant also noted that Mahomes is lacking the same firepower he has had in previous years, leading to a heavy reliance on the defense. Avant praised the Chiefs' consistent defense, which has been able to apply timely pressure, play man-to-man coverage, and boasts standout players like cornerbacks McDuffie and Sneed. Avant believes that it is the defense that gives the Chiefs a legitimate shot at winning the Super Bowl. However, he expressed concern about the makeup of the offense, stating that he only likes four players outside of Mahomes. Avant pointed out the drops from Valdes-Scantling earlier in the season and some questionable plays from Hardman during the Dolphins game. Despite these concerns, the Chiefs are heading to Buffalo to play the Bills with a chance to make it to their sixth consecutive AFC championship game.
