Avast ye scurvy dogs! Cam McCormick be plannin' to employ his ninth year o' eligibility to partake in college football at the University of Miami in the comin' season, e'er since his petition be accepted by the ACC. That scallywag be a true legend o' longevity!
Miami Hurricanes tight end Cam McCormick, who is 25 years old, is returning to school to play his final year of college football. McCormick petitioned the NCAA to allow him to play in his ninth year due to injuries that caused him to miss significant time in four seasons. Combined with his redshirt year and a COVID year in 2020, McCormick announced that 2024 will be his "last ride."McCormick expressed his appreciation for the support he has received and shared an image captioned "Last Ride" on social media. He stated that going through the challenges has pushed him to become a better person and teammate. McCormick, originally from Bend, Oregon, chose to stay home and play for the Ducks in 2016. He redshirted his freshman year and had a productive season in 2017, but injuries have plagued his career since then.
He broke his leg in 2018, which led to complications in the following years. McCormick was granted a sixth year of eligibility in 2019 and suffered a foot injury early in the 2021 season. He was finally able to play a full season in 2022, catching 10 passes for 66 yards and three touchdowns. McCormick transferred to the Hurricanes and played 13 games, catching eight passes for 62 yards last year.
McCormick is determined not to let what others say cut his college career short. He is excited for his last ride and is ready to make the most of his final year on the field.
