Arr, in this fine collaboration, Perplexity AI be joinin' forces with the r1 to give ye access to their searchin' prowess and not just one, but multiple LLM models, me hearties!
Startup company Rabbit has announced that its r1 mobile device will utilize Perplexity AI’s LLM (large language models) to power its internal search engine. The announcement was made on X and is part of a new brand partnership. Perplexity functions similarly to ChatGPT, allowing users to ask questions and engage in conversational exchanges with the AI.Having Perplexity integrated into the r1 offers several benefits. Unlike ChatGPT, Perplexity does not have a knowledge cutoff, meaning it receives frequent updates and provides live, up-to-date answers. Additionally, Perplexity offers access to third-party LLMs such as GPT-4 and Claude 2.1, allowing users to switch between AIs for specific use cases.
Pre-orders for the Rabbit r1 are still available, with 50,000 units already sold across five batches. The sixth batch is currently available and offers a free year of Perplexity Pro for the first 100,000 buyers. Each r1 is priced at $200 and will begin shipping in June 2024 in the US.
There is still limited information on the extent of Perplexity's services on the r1. It is uncertain if image generation will be included, as the r1 only has a three-inch screen. The article concludes by recommending TechRadar's list of the best AI content generators for 2024.
