Avast ye, ye scurvy dogs! Samsung be grantin' ye swashbucklers the power to swap yer Galaxy S23's screen. But beware, me hearties, fer ye may find yerselves in a right pickle, as the rest o' the phone parts and such be not yet at yer disposal. Yo ho ho!
Samsung has announced that it is expanding its self-repair program to include 14 new devices, such as the Galaxy S23 series, laptops, TVs, soundbars, and projectors. This update will allow users to fix nearly 50 of Samsung's products. The full list of devices and serviceable parts can be found on Samsung's website. However, it is important to note that these parts can only be obtained through the SamsungParts website, not iFixit. Samsung has partnered with distribution company Encompass to manage the website and provide parts.
The availability of these new parts is still being rolled out, and not all devices have the same level of support. For example, while multiple components can be pre-ordered for the Freestyle projector, no parts are available for purchase for the Galaxy S23. The listings on the website do not provide specific details or pictures of the parts.
The official release date for the self-repair update is expected to be on January 30. It is assumed that all necessary paperwork and guidance will be provided alongside the release of the parts. TechRadar has reached out to Samsung for more information on the self-repair program refresh.
