Arr! 'Tis with a heavy heart I tell ye, mateys! On Wednesday mornin', a Russian vessel o' war, carryin' 65 poor souls from Ukraine, met its watery grave in the Belgorod region. A tragic twist o' fate befallen these prisoners of war!

A Russian military transport plane carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war crashed in Russia's Belgorod region near Ukraine. The crash occurred at around 11 a.m. local time, and it is unclear what caused the plane to go down or if there were any survivors. Along with the prisoners, six crew members and three other individuals were also on the flight. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, and a special military commission has been called to the crash site. The POWs were being transported for a prisoner exchange in the border region, according to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti. President Vladimir Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, stated that he could not comment on the crash due to insufficient information. A member of the Russian parliament claimed during a session that the plane had been shot down by three missiles, but the source of this information remains unknown. Video footage posted on Telegram showed the aircraft falling towards the ground and exploding in a fireball. The plane was identified as an Ilyushin Il-76, a military transport aircraft. The Belgorod region, which sits on the border with Ukraine, has been targeted by Ukrainian forces in recent months. In a separate incident, a Ukrainian drone was shot down over Belgorod, but there were no casualties or damage. The war between Russia and Ukraine has remained static during the winter, with both sides resorting to long-range missile attacks to replenish their weapon stockpiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently reported a major Russian missile attack that killed 18 people and injured 130.
