Avast ye mateys! Be there a chance we set our eyes upon the mighty Ryzen 8000 (or 9000) desktop processors in a matter of months? Rumor hath it, the mill be spinnin' with such tales!
AMD’s Zen 5 desktop processors, possibly called Ryzen 9000 models, may be announced in April, according to rumors from RedGamingTech on YouTube. This contradicts previous expectations of a mid-year release, possibly in Q3. However, there is some uncertainty surrounding the actual release date, with suggestions ranging from April to June. The more significant update, the 3D V-Cache variants, is expected to launch in early 2025 at CES. RGT also mentions that Zen 5 will offer a performance boost of 10% to 15% compared to the current generation, with similar core configurations to the existing Ryzen 7000 CPUs.There is some disagreement among leakers regarding the release timing of the X3D processors. While one leaker suggests a close release with Zen 5, others, including Kepler, expect a significant gap between the launches. Kepler's prediction aligns with previous patterns, such as the five-month gap between Ryzen 7000 and X3D variants. It is speculated that AMD may want to give enough time for Zen 5 vanilla chips to sell before introducing the X3D models. As for an April launch, it seems unlikely, and it is more probable that an initial unveiling may occur, followed by availability a few months later.
AMD seems to have the advantage in terms of release timeframe, as Intel's Arrow Lake processors are rumored to launch late in the year. However, there is anticipation that Arrow Lake will be a significant improvement for Intel, considering the underwhelming performance of their current-gen Raptor Lake Refresh. Overall, the competition between AMD and Intel continues to intensify, and the market eagerly awaits the next-gen processors from both companies.
