Arrr, the kin o' young Jake Moody, the bootin' buccaneer o' the San Francisco 49ers, be cheerin' fer their lad's crew on Sunday, despite bein' loyal scallywags o' the Detroit Lions.
The Detroit Lions are having a remarkable season and are gearing up to face the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. This is a momentous occasion for the Lions, as they have never reached the Super Bowl in their franchise history. However, for one family, this dream comes with a twist.Jake Moody, the kicker for the 49ers, hails from Northville, MI, a town just outside of Detroit. Despite being Lions fans themselves, Moody's parents, Chad and Lisa, have made the difficult decision to root for the 49ers because their son is on the team. Chad, a lifelong Lions fan, shared that they used to take him to training camp when he was a child.
While they will cheer for the 49ers on Sunday, if the Lions manage to defeat San Francisco, Chad will quickly switch back to supporting his beloved Lions in the Super Bowl. Moody has had an impressive season, connecting on 21 out of 25 field goal attempts.
On the other side, Detroit's quarterback, Jared Goff, is returning to his hometown as the Lions visit Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. Goff grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended Cal Berkeley. He expressed excitement about playing a big game in familiar territory and having friends and family in attendance.
The Lions and the 49ers will face off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. It promises to be an exciting match, filled with familial loyalties and the hope of reaching the Super Bowl for the first time in Lions history.
