Arrrgh, mateys! Behold ye mighty graphics card, the finest among the lot! 'Tis a real treasure, makin' our eyes twinkle with temptation. Aye, ye surely be wantin' to set sail with this beauty in yer rig!
AMD's RX 7800 XT graphics card is rumored to be receiving price cuts in order to compete with Nvidia's GPUs, according to hints in the US market. ASRock's Challenger RX 7800 XT has dropped to $489.99 on Newegg, making it the lowest price ever seen for this AMD GPU. Additionally, Gigabyte's RX 7800 XT Gaming OC model is now discounted to $479.99, making it an even better value proposition with its decent overclock capabilities. Despite its excellent performance and sales, the price drop may be attributed to Nvidia's new RTX refreshes and the reshuffling of the mid-range market with Lovelace. It is speculated that AMD may be urging its partners to lower prices in response to Nvidia's launches.Nvidia recently released the RTX 4070 Super, which quickly became the second-best GPU on the market, just behind the 7800 XT. To compete, Nvidia had to reduce the price of the vanilla RTX 4070 to $549, and it has now dropped even further to $535 and $540 on Newegg. This proximity to the 7800 XT's MSRP may be the reason why AMD wants to maintain its mid-range champion's excellent value.
This price drop in the US market may signal the start of a real competition in the mid-range GPU arena, with the possibility of further discounts on the 7800 XT and potential price cuts for the RX 7700 XT. Hopefully, other regions will follow suit and lower prices as well. It is worth noting that the upgrade from the 7700 XT to the 7800 XT is currently only a $40 difference, making the lesser sibling appear even less valuable.
