Arrr, word be sailin' the Seven Seas that the Washington Commanders be signin' Dan Quinn as their next cap'n! Aye, he be a fine matey, previously guardin' the defense o' them Dallas Cowboys!

The Washington Commanders are reportedly set to hire Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as their next head coach. The Commanders and Quinn have come to an agreement, according to the NFL Network. Quinn has spent the last three seasons as the Cowboys' defensive coordinator, with the team finishing fifth in points and yards allowed during the 2023 season. The Commanders, who have finished last in the NFC East division for the past two years and in third place in 2021, will look to Quinn to revitalize the team. Under Ron Rivera's leadership, Washington won the NFC East with a 7-9 record in his first season, but their performance declined in subsequent seasons. In 2023, the team had a 4-13 season, finishing last in both points and yards allowed on defense, as well as 24th in yards gained and 25th in points scored on offense. Quinn has previous head coaching experience, having led the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020. The Falcons made it to the Super Bowl in 2016 but famously blew a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots. Quinn was let go by the Falcons after Week 5 of the 2020 season. Before his time with the Cowboys and Falcons, he was the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks' "Legion of Boom" defense that won the Super Bowl in 2013. The Commanders are the last team to fill their head coaching position before the start of the new league year in March.
