Avast ye, mateys! Methinks there be a chance of more adverts sailin' in Windows 11 waters! Aye, they be testin' a Copilot ad in the Settings app, arr!
Windows 11 may soon feature ads for Copilot Pro, Microsoft's upgraded version of its AI assistant that requires a monthly subscription. The possibility of these ads appearing in the Settings panel of Windows 11 is currently being explored in testing. The inclusion of a Copilot Pro card on the Settings app's Home page was discovered by a user named PhantomOfEarth on X (formerly Twitter), who also noticed a section for Copilot Pro in Accounts settings displaying billing information. Although the ad was initially hidden and required some digging to find, two other Windows 11 testers in the Beta channel reported having the Copilot Pro card without any additional action. It is likely that the Copilot Pro ad will be rolled out more widely to testers before becoming available to all Windows 11 users. Microsoft has a history of promoting its own services within its products, and monetizing AI is expected to be a priority due to its increasing importance in Windows 11 and other Microsoft products. While the prospect of a Copilot Pro ad seems likely, it is preferable that it is tucked away in the Settings rather than being more prominently displayed in the Start menu.
Copilot Pro offers benefits such as faster performance, quicker responses, and more customization options, compared to the free version of Copilot. The latest upgrades are likely to be reserved for the Pro AI, as seen with the introduction of GPT-4 Turbo in Copilot Pro. However, the basic free version of Copilot will not be affected for now. More details about Copilot Pro can be found in the article linked below.
