Avast ye! Sam Darnold set sail with great hopes when the Jets drafted him in 2018. Aye, he aimed to steer the franchise to untold glory! Arrr, but fate may yet bless him with a Super Bowl ring, though it be on a different ship!

The lad, who serves as the backup quarterback fer the San Francisco 49ers, be growin' up dreamin' of playin' in this grand event. But alas, he thought he would be makin' a Super Bowl run with the team he started his NFL career with - the New York Jets.Darnold, bein' the third overall pick in the 2018 draft after a stellar career at USC, be recallin' the excitement he felt when he be drafted. "Obviously, that be what ye dream of as a young scallywag. Right when I be gettin' drafted by the Jets, and even now, me goal be to bring a championship to a team," says Darnold durin' Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night in Las Vegas.
The lad also be admitin' that he now has a good understandin' of how difficult it be to compete fer the Vince Lombardi Trophy. "At the same time, ye kind of be comprehendin' what it takes, even in a backup role like I be in right now. Ye be understandin' what it takes to actually make it here and actually get it done and not just dream and imagine it. It be a lot of hard work, a lot of sacrifice," says Darnold.
Darnold had been hopin' to end the Jets' Super Bowl drought or at least lead 'em to the playoffs. But after a rollercoaster ride with the Jets, he be traded to the Carolina Panthers in 2021 and then found his way to the Bay Area. Now, it be Brock Purdy who be gettin' the start for the Niners as they face the defendin' champion Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
