Arrr, me hearties! The scurvy Lions players be sayin', "Arrr, Cap'n Dan deserved the Coach o' the Year booty!"
2024-02-10
Arrr, the Detroit Lions' Jared Goff, Aidan Hutchinson, and Brian Branch be all a-grumblin' 'bout their head coach, Dan Campbell, not winnin' the Coach of the Year title, despite a jolly fine season filled with glory and swashbucklin' adventures. Aye, what a sorry tale!
The NFL Honors recently took place, and there were some surprise winners of the awards. One of them was Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, who won Coach of the Year for the second time in his career. He narrowly beat out Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans by just one vote. However, the real surprise was that Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell came in a distant third place. Many Lions players believed that Campbell deserved the award after their historic season. The Lions had never won 14 games in a single season before, and Campbell led them to the NFC Championship Game. They also won their division for the first time since 1993. Despite the loss, Lions players still believed that Campbell was their Coach of the Year in their hearts. While quarterback Jared Goff acknowledged Stefanski's deserving win, he couldn't help but support his own coach after such an impressive season. The last time a Lions coach won the award was in 1991. Rookie Brian Branch also believed that Campbell deserved the award because he kept his promise to the team and led them to success. Campbell himself is not too concerned about the award and is focused on winning the Vince Lombardi trophy. The Lions have a young and talented team, and Campbell has the pieces in place for another great season in 2024.
