Arr, word be sailin' the seas that Miles Bridges has had all three villainous counts against him scuttled! Tales speak of an alleged ruckus with his lass, but now those charges be naught but a whisper on the wind. Yo ho ho, the seas be calm once more!
In a hilarious 17th-century pirate language, the news report reveals that Charlotte Hornets' Miles Bridges had three criminal charges against him dropped on Wednesday. The charges were related to an alleged domestic violence incident. Bridges was initially charged with a domestic violence protective order violation, misdemeanor child abuse, and injury to personal property. However, all of these charges were dropped due to a lack of sufficient evidence against him.Back in November 2022, Bridges pleaded no contest and was sentenced to three years probation by the Los Angeles Superior Court. He was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend in front of their two children in June of that year. As a result, the NBA suspended Bridges for 30 games, but since he did not play at all during the 2022-23 season, the league ruled that 20 games "have been already served."
During his probation, Bridges will have to complete 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and parenting classes. He will also be required to do 100 hours of community service and undergo weekly drug tests. Additionally, he is not allowed to own firearms or ammunition, and he will have to pay fines of $300 and $500 for restitution and domestic violence, respectively.
A 10-year protective order has been put in place, prohibiting Bridges from having any contact with the mother of his children. The mother, Mychelle Johnson, addressed the incident on Instagram, sharing photos of her injuries and a medical report detailing the abuse she suffered.
Despite these legal issues, Bridges has been performing well on the court, averaging a career-high 21.6 points per game in 42 games this season. The Mecklenberg County Court in North Carolina has not yet responded to confirmation requests regarding the dropped charges.
