Arrr, mateys! The mystic wonders of the first Android 15 preview be shrouded in secrecy. Yet, tales o' olde whisper o' clues from ancient scrolls, hintin' at what treasures may be awaitin' ye landlubbers.
In a hilarious twist, the first preview version of Android 15 may be launching on February 15th, according to a developer comment that has since been deleted from Google’s Android Open Source Project website. Fortunately, 9To5Google managed to capture a screenshot of the comment, which refers to the preview as "Android V" in reference to its codename, "Vanilla Ice Cream".While the preview is likely to be exclusive to Pixel devices and not publicly released due to software instability, it's expected that the contents of the preview will be leaked onto the internet, revealing what Android 15 has in store.
Although the features of Android 15 are still unknown, previous reports suggest that it may include a feature called "Communal Space" that allows users to add widgets to the lock screen, as well as a battery health percentage indicator similar to the iPhone 15. Another potential feature is "Private Space", which hides apps on the smartphone from prying eyes.
Additionally, there are rumors that Android 15 may introduce a feature that enables effortless sharing of wireless audio streams, similar to Bluetooth Auracast. Lastly, it's been reported that Android 15 may require all apps on the Google Play Store to support an edge-to-edge mode, paving the way for improved full-screen viewing.
Despite these tidbits of information, there is still much we don't know about Android 15. Hopefully, the slip-up by the developer is just the beginning of more reveals to come. In the meantime, you can check out TechRadar's list of the best Android phones for 2024.
