2024-03-06

Arrr! Avast ye, me hearties! 'Tis a grand day indeed, for Nvidia has decided to retire the GTX 16 Series models and bring forth the mighty RTX 3050 6GB. No more shall we be plagued by those old scallywags, for the future be bright with this new treasure!

Nvidia has decided to discontinue its budget GTX 1650 and 1630 graphics cards, the last remaining GTX 16 Series models, according to rumors swirling around the tech world. This move aligns with previous reports that production of these GPUs would cease in Q1 2024. The demise of the GTX brand means that no more chips for GTX 16 models will be supplied, and all future graphics cards from Nvidia will be RTX models.
The stock of GTX 16 Series GPUs is expected to run out within the next few months, leaving potential buyers scrambling to get their hands on one before they disappear from shelves. However, the aging nature of these GPUs and the availability of better options from AMD and Intel make their discontinuation less of a loss for consumers.
Existing owners of GTX 16 Series cards need not worry, as Nvidia will continue to support these GPUs with driver updates for the foreseeable future. The budget choice from Nvidia now shifts to the RTX 3050, with a new 6GB VRAM variant introduced to fill the void left by the GTX 16 models. While the RTX 3050 offers a cheaper price tag, it falls short in gaming performance compared to other options like the RTX 2060.
