Avast ye mateys! The fresh scribings shall be displayed below the title of the ship's chatting quarters on WhatsApp. Keep a weather eye on 'em, lest ye be caught unawares by a rogue scallywag! Arrr!
Arrr, mateys! WhatsApp be testin' a new label in their app to let ye know if a chat room be havin' end-to-end encryption. This label be found by WABetaInfo in the latest Android beta. According to them, it be showin' up beneath the contact or group name if the chat be encrypted with the company's Signal Protocol (not to be confused with the Signal messaging app). The purpose of this label be to give ye a visual confirmation that yer conversations be safe from prying eyes and ears. It be disappearin' after a few seconds, makin' way for the Last Seen indicator. This small change be important as it shows that Meta be willin' to embrace third-party interoperability. In Europe, Meta be explainin' how this interoperability be workin' in a report published on their blog. They be wantin' partners to use the Signal Protocol for security reasons. Other services can use compatible protocols, but they must offer the same level of protection. If a service don't meet the standards, WhatsApp won't communicate with it.Android owners can install the update from the Google Play Beta Program, but it be only available to a few testers. No word yet on when iOS users will see this feature. Be sure to join TechRadar's official WhatsApp channel for all the latest updates!
