Quordle FAQs: Everything ye need to know
What be Quordle?Where Wordle challenges ye to guess a new five-letter word each day, Quordle gives ye four puzzles to solve at once. Ye have nine guesses, and the rules be much like Wordle's. Avast ye! It be played online at the Quordle website and also through Merriam-Webster, after the dictionary bought Quordle last year. The answers be the same for all players each day, so ye be battlin' the whole world. And like Wordle, the puzzle resets at midnight, so ye get a fresh challenge daily. The website also has a practice mode - I recommend it afore takin' on the real game! - and daily stats like streak count. Ye also earn Quordle Achievements for winnin' in a certain number of turns, playin' often, or guessin' tricky words. Arrr! And let me tell ye, it be a tough game, matey!
What be the Quordle rules? The rules be almost the same as Wordle's, me hearties.1. Right letters in the right place turn green.2. Right letters in the wrong place turn yellow.3. Wrong letters turn gray...4. ...BUT yer guess shows in all quadrants, so a letter might turn green in one square, yellow in another, and gray in the last two. 5. No plurals be allowed.6. Letters can repeat. So if ye have two of one letter, they might both turn yellow, both turn green, or one yellow and one green.7. Each guess must be a valid word in Quordle's dictionary. Ye can't guess ABCDE, for instance.8. Ye don't have to use correct letters in later guesses, and there be no Hard mode like Wordle.9. Ye have nine guesses to crack the Quordle answers.10. Ye must finish the daily Quordle afore midnight in yer timezone.
What be a good Quordle strategy?Quordle be a different beast from Wordle, ye see. With four puzzles and nine guesses, ye can't just guess willy-nilly and hope for the best - a strategic approach be key to success. That be true for Wordle too, but even more crucial for Quordle, me matey. There be two main things to remember, savvy?1. Start with multiple wordsYe won't want just one startin' word, but likely two or three. The first should be one of the best Wordle startin' words, as they work well in Quordle too. Then pick another word or two that use up more common consonants and any remainin' vowels. For instance, me lineup be STARE > DOILY > PUNCH. Together they use 15 letters includin' all five vowels, Y, and nine common consonants. Ye can choose other options, but somethin' like that be a good start. If ye do well, ye might have a lead on one or two o' the answers. If not, ye be in for a challenge!2. Narrow it downIf ye face a word with multiple possibilities, like -ATCH where it could be MATCH, BATCH, LATCH, CATCH, WATCH, HATCH, or PATCH - ye'll want to guess a word that narrows down the options. In Quordle, guessin' several words won't likely work, so choose wisely, me hearties! In that scenario, CLAMP be a smart guess, as it could eliminate many possibilities at once.
