Avast ye scallywags! A Texas high school baseball game be so long this past weekend, it took multiple days to finish the 23-inning marathon. Midland High School finally bested Odessa High School, 4-3, settin' the record for the longest game in Texas high school history. Arr, it be tied for the third-longest game in the National Federation of State High School Associations, only two innings shy of the American high school record fer the longest game ever.These two powerhouses started the battle on a Friday, playin' 13 innings before the skirmish was suspended. The game was settled the next day, with Midland ultimately emergin' victorious. The contest began at Odessa's Pressly Field before continuin' at Midland's Zachery Field, with both teams addin' runs throughout the extra innings.After a grueling 23rd inning, Midland finally scored the winnin' run on an RBI groundout. Jake Nava delivered the perfect pitch to end the game, makin' history with one of the longest high school games ever played. Two other games be tied fer the longest, reachin' 25 innings in 1967 and 1975.
