Arrr, me hearties! No Thunderbolt 5 support for Z890 motherboards, says the scallywags at Intel Arrow Lake!

2024-05-06

Avast ye mateys! The scallywag hardware leaker be whisperin' that them Z890 motherboards for Intel Core Ultra 200 be lackin' Thunderbolt 5 support. Arrr, shiver me timbers! We be needin' that lightning-fast connection for our plunderin' adventures on the high seas!

A notorious hardware leak scallywag be claimin' that while Thunderbolt 4 be standard fer Intel Core Ultra 200 CPUs on Z890, the upcomin' CPU generation will be missin' out on Thunderbolt 5. As spotted by Videocardz, this leakin' Golden Pig Upgrade has alleged that Intel Arrow Lake will be missin' out on Thunderbolt 5 support fer Z890 motherboards despite its unveilin' last year. If true, this be disappointin' news considerin' that Intel 14th Gen also missed out on Thunderbolt 5 at release. Both Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 be capped at 40 Gbps, with no great increase in speed despite their age difference. In contrast, Thunderbolt 5 can achieve double this at 80 Gbps, which can be boosted to 120 Gbps through Bandwidth Boost. The leak also claims that Ultra Core 200 CPUs will only have four Xe cores, half of what's available in Meteor Lake for laptops. Intel Core Ultra 9 285K be speculated to have 24 cores, 24 threads, and a max boost clock of 5.5 GHz.If Arrow Lake misses out on Thunderbolt 5, we may have to wait until Lunar Lake and Panther Lake for the new connectivity standard, bringin' increased bandwidth and enhanced resolutions and framerates. Aye, matey, it be a rough seas ahead for Intel's Arrow Lake!
