In the language of a 17th-century pirate, it seems that Google be mighty pleased with Circle to Search on its Pixel phones, savvy? Just yesterday, a group of developers crafted a version of this treasure for the iPhone as a shortcut. Now, it appears that Chrome on desktop will soon be blessed with this feature as well, arrr!A scallywag known as Leopeva64 on X (formerly Twitter) shared clips hinting at a potential Google Lens update for the browser. This update would give ye manual control over the tool, matey.By clicking a Lens icon in the toolbar, yer cursor transforms into a cross-shaped reticle with a camera icon. Ye can then aim it at an object on the screen, and search results will appear. While this feature be a work in progress, Google has been toiling on it since at least March of 2024.Chrome be drawing inspiration from its Pixel counterpart, with a design that blurs the surroundings when an object is highlighted. While Chrome already offers similar functionality, a Circle to Search tool would make it easier and more familiar for users of Pixel or Galaxy phones, yarrr!
