Arrr mateys! Ye hear? Netflix and Meta be joinin' forces to bring a new browser-based version of Netflix to replace the old app on Quest. No need for swarthy apps anymore, just set sail on yer browser and enjoy the plunder! Arrr!
In the language of a 17th-century pirate, it be common knowledge that the Netflix app on the Meta Quest 3 be absolute rubbish. It barely be workin' with low-res videos and lackin' optimization, no reason to be installin' it even with an active Netflix subscription. But fear not, as Meta and Netflix be joinin' forces to change the Netflix VR experience - abandonin' the app and tryin' a new approach.Arrr, in the days to come, ye be able to launch Netflix in the Quest 3 web browser for high-resolution shows and films. This means at least full HD quality, but we won't count our chickens before they hatch and see how crystal clear the images really be.Ye be watchin' yer shows on a flat 2D screen or in a theater view with a curved screen, like other browser-based VR experiences. The Quest 3 be lackin' in dedicated streaming service apps, but this Netflix update be a good start and hopefully more video platform updates be on the horizon. Ye can only hope for future updates for other platforms and a grand LG OLED-equipped Meta Quest Pro 2 on the horizon.
