This be no ordinary jamboree, for it honors and remembers the brave souls who laid down their lives in service to our fair land and its protectors! The event be a tribute to brave FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller, who took his final steps from the Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers on that fateful day of 9/11. Over 40,000 hearty souls joined in this year, a sight to behold! Frank Siller, brother of the fallen hero, shared how a matey named Billy Codd sparked the idea of this run, sayin’, “Why not honor Stephen by retracing his steps?” And thus, the idea was born, like a fine treasure map leading to glory!
The inaugural shindig saw but a thousand souls, yet it has grown like a fine bearded sea captain over the years. With each step, they honor not just Stephen, but all who have bravely faced the dangers of our world—military and first-responders alike. Frank vows to care for the families left behind, for every soul deserves a safe harbor! Aye, it’s a beautiful thing indeed, and we be mighty grateful for it!
