"Arrr, give credit to Microsoft for lendin' an ear, but the angry scallywags' shouts against this tweak be louder than a cannon blast!"
Ahoy mateys! Microsoft be backtracking on a decision it made to change File Explorer in Windows 11! Testers had made complaints about the changes, and the company has decided to roll back the change. The change in question was removing old settings for folders on the desktop, including options such as “Show drive letters” and “Hide protected OS files”. However, Microsoft did leave a way to still access those folder options by editing the Registry, but this was not well-received by users. Microsoft states that test builds are for trying out new ideas and seeing what works, and the Windows Insider scheme is for finding bugs and taking feedback from testers seriously. It seems that power users were not happy about having these folder options stripped away, and Microsoft has listened and dropped the idea. However, there are some who still can't understand why Microsoft would even consider ditching some of these choices. A File Explorer revamp is in the pipeline, and it's possible that Microsoft may try to shed some of these options in the future, but hopefully, they can be left in and tucked away in an ‘Advanced’ panel somewhere. In other news, Microsoft is enhancing the passwordless experience in Windows 11 by allowing users to use passkeys through Windows Hello on supporting websites and apps. Ye may also encounter a head-scratching pop-up related to Windows Hello. Ahoy, Microsoft still be listening to its testers and taking feedback seriously!
