Avast ye scallywags! Warren Upton, the ancient sea dog who lived through the tempestuous raid on Pearl Harbor and was the last hearty soul of the USS Utah, has shuffled off this mortal coil at the ripe old age of 105. May he sail smoothly to Davy Jones' locker!
Ahoy, mateys! Gather 'round, fer I bring ye tidings of a grand ol’ sea dog, Warren Upton, who sailed his last voyage at the ripe old age of 105! The last of the crew from the fateful USS Utah, he met Davy Jones after a tussle with pneumonia in a California inn on the 25th of October. This brave lad was aboard the Utah when them sneaky Japanese scallywags unleashed a bombardment on Pearl Harbor back on the morn of December 7, 1941. Warren was just a spry 22-year-old, busy preparin’ to shave when torpedoes struck! The ship shivered and shook like a riled-up sea serpent before it began to list like a drunken sailor. Warren, quick as a flash, swam to safety, dodging cannonballs and such, jumpin’ into a trench to avoid bein’ turned into fish bait.
Alas, as the years rolled on, Warren watched his shipmates depart this world like leaves in the autumn breeze—by 2020, just three remained afloat! With his passing, only 15 fine souls from that infamous day still breathe. So let us raise a tankard in honor of ol’ Warren Upton, a true pirate of the sea and history! Yarr, he won’t be forgotten!
