Arrr! In the year o' our Lord 2024, six scallywag states tossed the ol' notions o' diversity, equity, and inclusion overboard from their learnin' halls! Aye, they be thinkin' it be smoother sailin' without that riggin'! Blimey, what a jolly crew of landlubbers!
Avast ye scallywags! Gather 'round, for news from the high seas of academia be afoot! Six states, including one led by a Democratic captain, be hoistin’ the Jolly Roger against the dreaded Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in their public colleges and universities this year.These DEI shenanigans have been the cause of many a squabble, especially amongst the Republican crew, who be claimin’ it’s naught but a left-wing plot to rattle the very timbers of American life! This year, the likes of Alabama, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, and Utah have all decreed bans or limits on these educational practices.
In a particularly bold maneuver, Utah's Republican Governor Spencer Cox signed a law to stop any institution from accusin' an individual for the sins of their forebears based on identity traits. A similar law out of Alabama declared that no one should be made to feel guilty for their race or other traits! Aye, they even laid down the law on who be usin’ the loo based on biology, not whimsy!
Now, as the winds of change blow through the education seas, even Kansas's Democrat Governor let a bill sail into law without her blessing. With penalties aplenty for those who dare to uphold DEI, these states be chartin’ a new course indeed! So grab yer grog and let’s see where this tempest leads us! Arrr!
