Ahoy, mateys! Gather 'round as I spin ye a yarn 'bout the curious tides of true crime, where we be thinkin’ it harmless mirth, yet it be far more weighty! The justice system be the very anchor of our democracy, and if scallywags believe all prosecutors be crooked and the courts be in league with the state, justice be lost in the briny deep!As the year of our Lord 2025 approaches, let’s raise a toast to 2024, a year where justice might rise above the theatrics! We kicked off the year with a ruckus in South Carolina, where one Alex Murdaugh, a villain o’ many a dark deed, found his plea for a new trial thrown overboard – he now rots in a cell where he rightly belongs!
Then we sailed to Maryland, where the tale of Adnan Syed, star of the famed “Serial” podcast, took a twist! His conviction be vacated, only for the Maryland Supreme Court to hoist the flag of justice once more, as he returns to the gallows of guilt!
