The scallywag be a golfer in high school, and he's set to sail the seas of Ball State! Adam Sandler himself hath sent his congrats via the Twitter bird. Ahoy, what a jolly time to be alive!
Adam Sandler, star of the 1996 film "Happy Gilmore," took notice of a high school golfer named Happy Gilmore who recently committed to Ball State University. Gilmore, whose real name is Landon, has been using the nickname since he was nine years old and started competing in tournaments. He announced his commitment to the Ball State golf program as part of the 2024 class. Gilmore said Ball State was the perfect place for him to continue his athletic career, citing the campus, the schedule of good teams, and the indoor practice facility as reasons. Gilmore has starred for Bloomington South High School in Indiana and recently shot a 66 at the U.S. Junior Amateur qualifier. He is currently ranked 481st on Golfweek’s Boys Junior Rankings and finished T-17 at the 2022 State Finals in his sophomore season. Despite some less-than-stellar scores, Gilmore has a positive attitude and even enjoys reading comments of people poking fun at him. Sandler tweeted his congratulations to the young golfer and wished him luck.
