"Arrr, me hearties! Stephen A. Smith hath spoken on the Titan submersible tragedy on 'The Stephen A. Smith Show.' He doth ponder why those scallywags wanted to visit the wreckage in the depths below. Methinks he be wise to question such foolhardy endeavors!"
Arrr mateys! On "The Stephen A. Smith Show" podcast, the commentator talked about the tragedy of the Titan submersible. The Coast Guard confirmed that all five passengers on board the submersible died due to a "catastrophic implosion" while traveling towards the sunken Titanic. Smith couldn't understand why anyone would want to visit the wreckage of the Titanic. He even got sidetracked and talked about Batman's status in the superhero pantheon. Smith admitted that he personally avoids many "adventurous" activities like skydiving and swimming with sharks. He suggested that Leonardo DiCaprio's role in James Cameron's 1997 film should have satisfied everyone's curiosity about the Titanic. Smith acknowledged that he wasn't taking the loss of life lightly. However, he also questioned why the passengers were so curious to view the site of the wreck. He wondered why someone would get in a submersible two miles below sea level in the ocean. All five passengers on the Titan submersible died, including OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, British billionaire Hamish Harding, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, and his son Suleman Dawood.
